ok so fresh thoughts on the new songs (I fell asleep listening to the album at midnight and then watched all the lyric videos just now)

buzz: as niki herself

said, "she is the moment she is the prologue she is the thesis". it's sort of the essence of the whole album and this song fr gave me SUCH a buzz. it's such a fun bop immediately went onto my I fucking love life playlist. also BOOBOO STEWART IN THE VIDEO LET'S FUCKING GO????! 

too much of a good thing is obviously My Song I have ranted about it enough on tumblr lol. it's just so aggressively My Type I've already overplayed the shit out of it throughout summer break

colossal loss: one of my immediate favs off of first listen! this was just so fun and petty and sexy

focus: ok so *hides face in hands* this song is actually about me (derogatory) ok. like in the event of someone making a post-breakup playlist for me this would definitely be the first track. it felt like my mom calling me out or smth. oops. it's like the adhd playboy song. but such a bop

did you like her in the morning: meh. not my thing. but it was a really pretty and melancholy song. I could relate to it slightly more while thinking of byler or rina or smth lmao

take care: the apartment we won't share vibes, I think this will grow on me just like that did

magnets: I liked this one! it's like a fun slow song about an annoying crush. like a let's fuck shit up type of thing. kinda natyandal

tsunami and blue moon are beautiful and ethereal and amazing and I love them and have already played them 173467099 times ofc. the lyricism on blue moon is fucking GENIUS + its so fucking addictive sonically. and tsunami is very labyrinth by taylor swift uh oh im falling in love again vibes. I'm obsessed with it listening to it is like escaping into the clouds

strong girl: very eldest daughter in an asian household core. would've fit right in on the nicole album

paths: this one was kinda meh for me on first listen tbh. it's like the facebook friends of this album and we all know that's my usual skip on nicole. same themes and similar lyricism too. it's very allo but aside from all the marriage talk it reminded me a lot of nons. it perfectly encapsulates my feelings towards her. like scarily on point. it's a little too relatable lol. very losing your childhood sweetheart vibes, I feel like this was written about the same person most of nicole was for some reason

heirloom pain: ASKDHDHGHJJ another one of my favourites on the album. let's bop the shit out of our generational trauma bitches. it's such a gorgeous beautiful song and is just. such a lost young adult mood. the outro is A++

nothing can: loved this one; another one of my favourites probably. even though a couple of lyrics were a little uh. cringe inducing but I think that's a personal preference. im bummed it didn't get a bits of buzz episode I'd have loved to know more about the inspiration behind it. maybe it will soon idk? it's like a less hopeful/positive version of to be alive by rina sawayama. kind of like an antithesis to that song actually. it reminded me so much of ranya. it's a very confused depressed but vaguely hopeful 20something song
